Electromagnetic Lifter used to Lift Steel Billets
The electromagnetic lifter used to lift steel billets (such as square billets, slabs, and round billets) in steel mills uses electromagnets to generate a strong magnetic field to absorb the billets. Its working conditions are characterized by heavy billets (several tons to dozens of tons), possible high temperatures (hot-rolled billets can reach 600-1000°C), and dusty/high-temperature/vibrating environments. Therefore, the technical parameters need to focus on "strong magnetic force, high-temperature resistance, and high stability."

Selection points
Select according to the state of the billet:
Cold billet (≤200℃): select natural cooling + 110-220V DC hoist;
Hot billet (>600℃): forced air cooling + 220-440V DC hoist, and the electromagnet core needs to be "high temperature demagnetization compensation" (increasing the number of coil turns to increase the magnetic force).
Select according to the length of the billet:
Short billet (<6m): 2-3 electromagnets;
Long billet (8-12m): 4-6 electromagnets, with a spacing of 1.5-2m (ensuring at least 1 adsorption point per meter of billet).
Matching crane:
The dead weight of the hoist must be ≤20% of the rated lifting weight of the crane (e.g., the dead weight of a 50-ton hoist must be ≤10 tons to avoid overloading the crane).
Environmental adaptation:
In humid areas (such as southern steel mills), you need to choose "anti-condensation coils" (to prevent condensation from damaging insulation);
In dusty environments, you need to clean the electromagnet adsorption surface regularly (rust/dust will reduce magnetic force, and it is recommended to blow it with high-pressure air every week).
