1. Define Core Operational Parameters
Lifting Capacity: Determine the maximum weight per lift (including lifting attachments); allow for a 10%–20% safety margin during selection.
Working Radius: The horizontal distance from the mounting point to the lifting point; this directly determines the jib arm length.
Lifting Height: The vertical distance from the ground or work surface to the hook's highest position; account for the hoist's own height.
Slew Angle: Determine if full rotation (360°) is required or if rotation is limited by the wall (e.g., 180° or 270°).
Duty Class: Select based on usage frequency (A1–A8); choose A3 or higher for high-frequency operations, and A1/A2 for occasional use.

2. Match Installation Conditions
Wall/Column Load-Bearing Capacity: Verify the strength of the concrete wall and the cross-sectional dimensions of the column; they must withstand the crane's overturning moment and dead weight.
Installation Height: Ensure the highest point of the jib arm does not interfere with the factory ceiling, overhead pipes, or other structures.
Floor Space: No floor support is required, but ensure sufficient clearance for the hoist's lowest operating position.
3. Select Key Configurations
Hoisting Mechanism: Choose an electric wire rope hoist for light loads (≤2t); opt for an electric chain hoist or pneumatic hoist for clean-room or explosion-proof environments.
Slewing Method: Manual slewing (low cost; suitable for light loads/low frequency); electric slewing (effort-saving; suitable for heavy loads/high frequency).
Control Method: Wired pendant or wireless remote control; wireless remote control is preferred for safer, more flexible operation.
Safety Devices: Essential features include a hoist limit switch, travel limit switch, and overload protection; explosion-proof motors and electrical components are required for hazardous environments.
4. Common Pitfalls to Avoid
❌ Don't focus solely on lifting capacity while ignoring the working radius: For the same lifting capacity, a longer jib arm results in lower load-bearing capability.
❌ Don't overlook the strength of the mounting foundation: Insufficient load-bearing capacity of the wall or column can lead to equipment overturning. ❌ Do not use wall-mounted jib cranes as a substitute for bridge cranes: wall-mounted jib cranes are suitable for small loads and short distances, whereas heavy-load or long-span applications still require bridge cranes.
